這些都是通訊社，專門為其他媒體主要是報(bào)紙?zhí)峁┬侣?，自己本身沒(méi)有報(bào)紙。新華社是中國(guó)，路透社是英國(guó)，法新社是法國(guó)，還有美聯(lián)社，全球最大的通訊社。美聯(lián)社是簡(jiǎn)稱，全稱是美國(guó)聯(lián)合通訊社。路透社是音譯。并不是所有的國(guó)家都有通訊社，法國(guó)的哈瓦斯社是最早的通訊社。
