中山古稱香山。1152年設(shè)立香山縣，范圍包括現(xiàn)在的中山和珠海。1925年，改名為中山縣，以紀(jì)念孫中山先生，是中國唯一以偉人名字命名的地級城市。孫中山故居紀(jì)念館位于中山市翠亨村，現(xiàn)為國家一級博物館、國家AAAA級旅游景區(qū)。

Zhongshan, originally known as Xiangshan was established as Xiangshan County in 1152, covering now Zhongshan and Zhuhai. In 1925, it was renamed Zhongshan County, to commemorate Sun Yat-sen. This county is the only great man named county-level cities in China. Former Residence of Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is located in Zhongshan City, Tsui Hang Village, which is now a national museum and a national AAAA level tourist destionation.

孫中山故居是中山排名第一的旅游景點，成千上萬的游客就是為了目睹這棟紅色二層小樓慕名而來，據(jù)說是孫先生親手設(shè)計的。最近幾年來此參觀都只能在一樓走走看看，過去是走上二樓。二樓是木頭結(jié)構(gòu)，可能是擔(dān)心熱情的游客踩踏了（在故宮里不是有的臺階也搭了木頭臺階嗎！一個意思！）樓內(nèi)不準(zhǔn)照相。

Sun Yat-sen's former residence is ranked first in Zhongshan tourist attractions, thousands of tourists flock to here to tour this red, two-story building, which rumour has it, was designed by Mr. Sun himself. In recent years, the building only opens its first floor to visitors. That is because the second floor is made of wood, which could be worn down given the number of tourists visited.

出口處往左是翠亨民居展覽，這個游覽區(qū)可以看到富農(nóng)中農(nóng)家庭、豆腐作坊、更樓、藥材鋪、陳興漢故居及翠亨村民俗展覽館。

At the exit to the left of the residence is the exhibition of Tsui Hang indigenous buildings. In this area, you can see the kulaks of middle-level peasant family, bean curd workshop, "gen" buildings, herbal shop, Chen Xinghan's residence and Tsuiheng folk exhibition.

Zhongshan Park is located to the west of Tian'anmen Rostrum in the heart of the Inner City. It is the site of the former Altar of Land and Grain.

Entering through the main southern entrance, one comes to a large vestibular pavilion with long corridors running off to the east and west. In front of the pavilion is a white marble memorial archway erected by the Qing government to commemorate the German Minister Baron von Kettler, who was killed during the Yihetuan Movement ("Boxer Rebellion") in 1900. This archway originally stood outside the western entrance to the Xizongbu Alley, but after Germany's defeat in World War I, it was removed to the Zhongshan Park and inscribed with the words "Triumph of Righteousness"(Gongli Zhansheng). After 1949 it was rein scribed in Guo Moruo's handwriting with "Defeat the Peace"(Baowei Heping).
